Thank you for visiting my website - I am Sophie and I am a BACP-accredited Person-Centred Counsellor and an Accredited EMDR Practitioner, registered with the EMDR Association UK. I deliver Counselling and EMDR sessions in Stanway, Essex and online.

I believe that being truly heard, understood and accepted can make a meaningful difference to how we experience ourselves and the world around us.

As a person-centred counsellor, I offer a warm, compassionate and non-judgemental space where you can feel safe enough to explore whatever may be troubling you. I understand that reaching out for counselling can feel daunting, particularly when you may have spent a long time trying to manage things on your own.You don't need to have the right words, know where to begin, or make sense of everything before coming to counselling.

You don't need to have the right words, know where to begin, or make sense of everything before coming to counselling. You are welcome to come just as you are.

My approach is grounded in the belief that every person is unique, and that your experiences, feelings and perspective deserve to be understood with care and respect. I place great importance on the relationship we build together, offering empathy, acceptance and genuineness. For me, counselling isn't about telling you what to do or who you should be; it's about walking alongside you as you begin to explore your experiences, develop a deeper understanding of yourself and discover what makes sense to you.

Throughout life, we can find ourselves facing difficulties that feel overwhelming or difficult to put into words. You may be experiencing anxiety, panic, depression, trauma, grief or loss. Perhaps you are struggling with relationships, low self-esteem, loneliness, stress or burnout.
You may be navigating different life changes, identity, living with the effects of past experiences, or trying to understand aspects of yourself. Sometimes, there may be no single reason for how you feel; you may simply know that things don't seem right.

Whatever you are carrying, I aim to meet you with warmth, curiosity and compassion, without judgement or expectation. I recognise that everyone's experiences are different, and I will respect your pace, your boundaries and what is comfortable for you to share.
I believe that meaningful change can begin when we are able to bring more of ourselves into a space where we can be accepted as we are. Through our work together, there may be opportunities to make sense of difficult experiences, reconnect with your own needs and emotions, and develop a kinder relationship with yourself.

If you think that counselling might be helpful, you are welcome to get in touch. We can begin with a conversation about what has brought you here and what you might be looking for from counselling.
